    The Operations Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment at the plant in a safe and efficient manner.

    The Operations Technician is expected to gain a basic knowledge of all operations in the plant as well as basic Lab operations while becoming highly skilled in one, or more, of these areas. He/she will follow established procedures and protocols to meet operations objectives, production goals, quality expectations while maintaining safety and environmental standards at a high level.
    Operations Technicians will work with Lead Operations Technicians, plant management and company engineers in administering and testing technologies. The Operations Technician performs functions associated with all plant production needs including, but not limited to, operations, minor equipment repair and training. He/she will also perform ancillary activities such as material handling, site-wide housekeeping and utilities monitoring/management.
    Operations Technicians manage all facets of the production process including collecting and testing process samples, capturing, logging and interpreting operating data, making process adjustments, optimizing the process to achieve desired outcomes and troubleshooting process deviations.
    Operations Technicians are expected to assist in the training of coworkers and may be enlisted to develop and update training materials.
    The role of Operations Technician is considered complex and dynamic with tasks ranging from well-defined and narrow in scope to highly complex, nonstandard processes and operations with broadly defined parameters. Initiative and effective communication are fundamental skills required to effectively work in the plant, resolve nonstandard problems and identify and convey opportunities for improvement.
    • High school diploma or equivalency required
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with process experience, a plus
    • Solid computer skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite software and process software.
    • Can read and understand equipment manuals, process flow diagrams (PFD’s) and piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID’s).
    • Able to work in a team environment or independently. Must possess a high degree of self-motivation, be able to accept responsibility and complete assigned action items in a timely manner.
    • Able to safely operate mobile equipment (e.g. forklifts, manlifts, telehandlers, etc.) with provided training.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude. Understanding of mechanical equipment, pumps, valves, pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation, process controls and steam systems desired.
    • Able to work rotating shifts and, occasional overtime, in order to support the needs of the plant.
    • Strong multi-tasking skills and high attention to detail.
    • Work environment includes working outside during varying temperature and weather conditions, working inside facility buildings including process areas, control rooms, laboratory and the maintenance shop. At times, environment may have presence of dust, fumes and moderate noise.
    • Able to lift, pull, pick-up and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for climbing stairs and ladders, sitting, walking on paved and unpaved surfaces, and standing for prolonged periods of time; operating a computer and keyboard; visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone, computer, tools, etc.; lift horizontally and vertically, bending, stooping, and reaching.
    • Work environment involves potential exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions and use of proper PPE.
    • Must be physically and mentally able to enter confined spaces, work at elevations above ground (while tied-off or otherwise secured from fall), and perform work while using supplied-air respiration equipment.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Salary: $20.00 to $28.00 (DOQ)
