    Job Description

    This is a leadership position which will require an entrepreneurial spirit and initiative to support plant and engineering staff in all aspects of plant operations. Primarily this will entail maintenance of equipment and instrumentation but will also include assisting engineering staff in the process development, laboratory and operations support. The position will also be responsible for establishing procedures and training new personnel as well as other on-demand support roles as needed.
    The Maintenance Technician conducts troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance at the plant in a safe manner while improving equipment reliability and availability.
    The Maintenance Technician provides emergency repairs of production equipment during operations and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment during planned shutdowns.
    Maintenance Technician involvement includes, but is not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of equipment. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for reading and interpreting equipment manuals, technical bulletins, engineering drawings, process flow diagrams (PFD’s), piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID’s) and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
    In addition, the Maintenance Technician will be expected to have an understanding of the processes and operations at the plant. At times, based on needs of the plant, the Maintenance Technician may act as a resource to production for minor process and or operational activities.
    • Familiar with and able to troubleshoot basic electrical(4-20mA, 12-36vdc, 120vac, 240vac, 480vav, Fluke metering equipment, VFD, etc.)
    • Pneumatic and electric valves(installation, troubleshooting and integration)
    • Familiar with instrumentation(Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC and Delta V DCS)
    • Familiar with Instrumentation devices such as flowmeters, level sensors, temperature sensors, etc.
    • Able to read and understand electrical drawings, P&ID’s, PFD’s.
    • Troubleshooting various pumps.
    • Read and interpret equipment manuals.
    • High mechanical aptitude( mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production equipment).
    • Basic welding skills(Mig, Tig and stick weld).
    • High school diploma or equivalency required.
    • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience.
    • Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with process experience, a plus.
    • Solid computer skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite software and process software.
    • Can read and understand equipment manuals, technical bulletins, engineering drawings, process flow diagrams (PFD’s), piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID’s) and work orders.
    • Able to work in a team environment or independently. Must possess a high degree of self-motivation, be able to accept responsibility and complete assigned action items in a timely manner.
    • Able to safely operate mobile equipment (e.g. forklifts, manlifts, telehandlers, etc.) with provided training.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Solid mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of mechanical components, routine and preventative maintenance, tolerances, instrumentation, electronic controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, alignment, welding, drive components, bearings, seals, compressors, valves, piping, pumps (centrifugal and positive displacement) and electrical.
    • Willingness to work non-standard shift hours and, at times, to be called in after hours to address critical maintenance issues disrupting operation of the plant.
    • Strong multi-tasking skills and high attention to detail.
    • Work environment includes working outside during varying temperature and weather conditions, working inside facility buildings including process areas and the maintenance shop. At times, environment may have presence of dust, fumes and moderate noise.
    • Able to lift, pull, pick-up and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for climbing stairs and ladders, sitting, walking on paved and unpaved surfaces, and standing for prolonged periods of time; operating a computer and keyboard; visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone, computer, tools, etc.; lift horizontally and vertically, bending, stooping, and reaching.
    • Work environment involves potential exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions and use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Must be physically and mentally able to enter confined spaces, work at elevations above ground (while tied-off or otherwise secured from fall), and perform work while using supplied-air respiration equipment.

      Salary: $22.00 to $28.00/hour (DOQ)
